Gateway Suites: Cozy Getaway Near Banff/Canmore

We wanted to give more information about this property for anyone looking to book. The first thing we noticed when we arrived was two oscillating fans. It didn't seem to matter what the thermostat was set at, it was hot in the room. We agree with the other review about the deadbolt not locking reliably on the front door. There is no sound deadening between the upper and lower units. You hear EVERYTHING. Someone will close a door to their unit and your bed will shake. The ceiling above you squeaks and bangs at all hours of the night when people are staying above you, even with ear plugs in, it jars you awake. There are cobwebs in the suite, and the clean linens are left out on an old broken dresser. Lysol wipes are kept beside the coffee maker. One day the fridge froze our food, another day it wasn’t even cold inside. We reported that the wifi wasn’t strong enough to reach inside the room. You couldn’t watch anything on the tv without it buffering every 10-15 seconds or load anything on maps for your day. They recommended a 1 day plan from a random eSIM company that they would reimburse us for, which we weren’t comfortable doing. Our stay was 3 nights.

The bed was comfortable. They supply coffee, sugar but no whitener. Bathroom has no sink.The door was left unlocked all night as the deadbolt would not close in the jam. Because the building is very old noise transfer is predominant. Premium costs for less than premium accommodations.
